Microsoft Office 2016 For Mac 15.20
Update 15.20 made Outlook unusable, because every time I try to reply to an email, I get a pop up warning: 'Make sure Visual Basic for Applications is installed on your computer. If Visual Basic for Applications is installed, make sure the path to the installation folder does not contain any characters outside of the system code page (such as Cyrillic characters on an English system) and contains fewer than 255 characters' Even when I click Ok,I cannot proceed writing, because the notification returns within seconds. Support tells me to reinstall outlook, but this is a pretty serious bug - I don't understand why this was rolled out prematurely. Maybe I'm not the right type of customer for the Insider Program (early updates), but this is pretty frustrating.
I have an issue which has only started happening since I updated to the March 2016 'patch' - wondered if anyone else is having the same problems? I have a number of email accounts in Outlook, IMAP, POP3 and Exchange. My IMAP and POP3 work fine, however my work exchange email account doesn't seem to want to connect when it downloads or uploads emails. Ted's answer will not help you because VBA in 2016 bears little resemblance to VBA in 2011. It appears that something went wrong during the update, unless you manually moved components around within the installation of Microsoft Office. You might try re-installing the 15.20 update.
If that doesn't work, then your plan of attack would be to completely remove Office 2016 and reinstall from scratch. Airplay for mac. I suggest doing the reinstall using a Safe Boot. I actually followed the description seen here on reddit to go back to 15.19 and will stay far away from 15.20: I figured I'd wait to see whether MS updates after the weekend, but no luck, so I also left the Insider program.
Anyway, in the meantime I saw other users reporting the same issue (on separate machines) so it definitely wasn't an out-of-place component. I think they need to do some more QC before rolling out updates to win me back. This was frustrating. Thumbs up to the user community though!
