Firewire 410 Driver For Mac 10.13.3
My scanning software crashes after I scan with Epson Scan 2, Document. My Mac crashes when I try to connect my product with a FireWire connection. The problem was with the Windows 10, 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 FireWire driver (a.k.a. The 1394 Driver) and the fix was a simple one. For Windows 7, just use the Legacy driver. Just follow the instructions below.
I've had problems since going to 10.4.10 with recent 410 drivers. The external CD player hooked to my M-Audio can't be heard except for a second while booting the Finder. I go into the M-Audio control panel, and it looks fine. But I get the sound back if I click (IIRC) the 1/2 button off then on again.
Mac OS X can be setup as an NFS client to access shared files on the network. Mounting NFS volumes in OS X can be done using following methods: a] Command line option. Linux nfs share.
The volume buttons take a second or two to have an effect. Then the indicator on the screen and the pop sound occur. In the process, sound is garbled. If I hit several times, or hold it down, the same happens, one step at a time, until it catches up. This has occurred on two computers going back to 10.3.x and with the last half-dozen M-Audio 410 drives. Not apparently an OS issue. Update: finally got a response from m-audio.
They recommend that driver 1.7.4 (for Mac OSX 10.4.8) is installed instead of the advertised driver (1.8.2). This worked for a day, but now my firewire 410 is not being recognised at all, and the blue LED continues to flash rapidly. When i got back to m-audio, i was told that this is because i'm running 'boot camp' which they don't support (although the 410 was working perfectly OK under 10.4.9 and boot camp). I was also advised that there is a diagnostic program which i can use to 'reflash' the unit. I've asked for the program, but have heard nothing since. All very frustrating.
I'm currently using 1.8.2 under 10.4.10. While I have the quirk I mentioned above, there is one thing new in this or recent versions: I can boot without the 410 connected, but then if I plug it in, the 410 is found and starts working. I don't recall this being the case in earlier versions. I had to reboot while connected. Although I do have the need to unclick and click the 1/2 button to make the external CD play through the mixer, and I do have the problem in all recent versions of the volume button taking a couple of seconds to work, I must say that I can work around these and live with 1.8.2.
Improvements would be nice, but I can cope. I have done the update that m-audio instructed me to do.
Reinstall OSX, archiving the old system preserving the user data and network settings. I then istalled Quicktime 7.1.6 then did the OSX combo updater to 10.4.10. I had some issues with streaming quicktimes and I had a lot of AU pluggins to move into the new system but. Everthing has been worked out and running very well. If you need details on the install, contact m-audio. After an intial communication problem everthing was worked out and they were very helpful.

Best of luck! I just got my firewire 410 last night, I went through the install steps exactly as laid out by M-Audio. The unit installed fine and my firewire harddrive and burner seem to work ok with the 410 connected. I have not had the time to record with it, but this morning I was trying to play a track in iTunes and after about 10 seconds the sound cut out and the power LED on the 410 went out and came back on but no sound at all. I rebooted and tried to play the track again in itunes and the same thing happened. Is this a known issue with itunes and the 410?
I have the 1.8.2 driver, and 10.4.10 plus I installed the 10.4.10 combo update. I just purchased a macbook in Sept, and I'm having the same problems with my M-Audio firewire 1814. The unit loses connection with the computer. Sometimes it runs well for hours, sometimes for minutes. M-Audio requested that I still the 10.4.10 combined update (intel) but it won't install on my computer, because my computer was shipped with the update (according to apple tech support). Any info on how to fix this?
