Gus, Let me go over some basics. (Apologies is this is info you already know.) The Quicken.dmg file is not the application. It is a compressed disk image that contains the application. When you open the Quicken.dmg file (by double clicking it), you should see this window: You need to drag the Quicken.app icon in this window to the Applications icon to install Quicken. When you do this, since you already have a version of Quicken installed, you should get a message asking if you want to replace the current version. You should choose Replace. Also, you must be logged in to an admin account on the Mac.
